Stop the use of high fructose corn syrup.

Stop the use of high fructose corn syrup.

Overview
Since the 1980's high fructose corn syrup has been slowly added into our food. Over the past thirty years high fructose corn syrup has replaced sugar in everything we consume. Anything that is processed contains high fructose corn syrup, from ceral to spaghetti sause soda to bread. With its increased use came an increase in obesity and diabetes in our nation. Scientific studies done on mice proved that high fructose corn syrup is more addictive than cocaine and makes you fatter faster. There is a chemical reaction that takes place in the organs systems which cause insulin resistance and non alcoholic fatty liver . The use of high fructose corn syrup is prohibited in ither countries because they know the negative health impact that it has . America is the sickest and most obese country in the world. With our advanced technology, we should be leading the world in good health rather than be an example of poor health to the world. The reason for the increased used of high fructose corn syrup is simply cost. High fructose corn is cheaper than cane sugar. It is nearly impossible to find products that do not contain any added sugar let alone high fructose corn syrup. Only diligent label readers know of these hidden ingredients in the food they purchase and consume. Most people are not aware of the health risks associated with consuming high fructose corn syrup.

"It's the action, not the fruit of the action, that's important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there will be any fruit. But that doesn't mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result."
- Mahatma Gandhi
